Crafted from all-natural clay material, Römertopf clay roasters are made without Lead, Cadmium, or fillers. They have undergone safety testing in both Europe and the USA to ensure compliance.
We recommend soaking the unglazed lid of the roaster in water before use. During cooking, the water will evaporate and a mantle of steam will be created. The lid is intentionally designed to allow some of the steam to escape, so it is not a tight fit.
